What travel software development covers

The booking, guest and operations systems behind every trip.

What is travel software development?
Travel software development is the engineering of the booking, guest and operations systems that travel and hospitality businesses run on. It covers booking engines and reservation systems, guest and driver apps, review and reputation analytics, pricing tools, and integrations with property management systems, channel managers, OTAs, GDS and payment providers.
Where bookings leak

Four reasons travel booking software loses sales

Availability that drifts between channels

A room or seat sold on one OTA stays open on another until someone closes it by hand. We sync inventory through the channel manager or PMS API, so every channel reads one source.

Checkout that asks too much

Long forms and forced accounts lose mobile bookers before they reach payment. We build short booking flows with guest checkout and Stripe or PayPal payments.

Reviews read one site at a time

Feedback spread across TripAdvisor, Viator and GetYourGuide takes hours to read, and patterns get missed. We gather reviews into one dashboard and use a language model to score sentiment and pull out keywords.

Back-office tools that don't talk

Bookings, fares and drivers kept in separate tools mean double entry and missed pickups. We connect the admin panel to the operations software you already use, as NXTGUEST's does with LimoAnywhere.

Travel services

Travel software we build

From a direct booking flow for one property to a platform for a whole travel business.

Booking engines and reservations

We build direct booking for rooms, tours, transfers and rides, with availability, pricing rules, deposits and cancellations.

Guest and traveller apps

Travellers book, check itineraries and get trip updates in mobile apps and PWAs, including QR code access with nothing to install.

See mobile app development

Review and reputation analytics

One dashboard collects reviews from several platforms and adds AI sentiment scores, keywords and email alerts, as in our TourReview build.

See NLP and sentiment analysis

PMS, channel manager and OTA integration

We connect to property management systems, channel managers, OTAs and GDS through the APIs each provider opens to partners.

Dynamic pricing and offers

We suggest rates from occupancy, season and demand and add personalised upsells, and your revenue team approves every change.

Operations and admin panels

Admin panels for bookings, fares, drivers and guides let operations staff run the day from one screen.

Segments we serve

Hotel booking platform development and travel tech by segment

A tour operator and a hotel group need different first builds. These are the four we see most.

Tour and activity operators

Tour operators take online bookings, schedule guides and analyse reviews across Viator, TripAdvisor and GetYourGuide.

Hotels and serviced stays

Direct booking engines, guest apps and PMS sync, so more bookings come in without OTA commission.

Ground transport and transfers

Ride booking by app or QR code, with dispatch, fares and driver management behind it.

Travel tech startups

We build marketplaces, itinerary apps and B2B travel tools as an MVP, then scale them with the same team.

How we work

Launch one booking flow before peak season

Travel demand is seasonal, so we plan releases around your peak and freeze changes before it. Discovery fixes the integration list early, because OTA, GDS and PMS providers can take weeks to approve API access.

  1. 01

    Discovery

We write products, booking rules, channels, payment regions and the integration list into a scope and sprint plan.

    Week 1
  2. 02

    Integration access

We request sandbox credentials from each provider and map sample payloads before any code depends on them.

    Weeks 1 to 3
  3. 03

    Ship one booking flow

One product type bookable from search to payment on staging, with automated tests on every change.

    Two-week sprints
  4. 04

    Scale and run

We add products, channels and apps on your cadence and keep releases clear of your peak season.

TourReview: an AI review analysis platform for tour operators

ScalaCode built TourReview, a platform that gathers customer reviews for tour operators from several online sources and analyses them with OpenAI. Operators see sentiment, highlighted keywords and overall performance in one dashboard.

Questions buyers ask

Travel software development FAQs

We will answer any other question on the call.

How much does travel software development cost?

Every build starts with a free discovery sprint. A booking web app starts from $11,999, a guest or driver mobile app from $9,999 and a full travel platform from $24,999. Dedicated engineers start from $1,799 a month, full-time.

Can you integrate with our PMS, channel manager or OTAs?

Yes, where the provider offers API access. We connected the NXTGUEST admin panel to LimoAnywhere, and we list every system and its access process in discovery. Some OTAs and GDS providers approve partners before they grant API access, so we start those requests in week one.

Should we build a booking engine or use an off-the-shelf one?

Use off-the-shelf booking software when your products are standard rooms, tours or rides and the team is small. Build when direct bookings are a growth channel, when your packages or pricing rules don't fit the tools, or when subscription and commission costs grow faster than revenue. Many operators keep OTA listings for reach either way.

How does AI review analysis work?

Reviews are collected from each platform, then a language model scores sentiment and extracts the keywords behind each score. TourReview does this with OpenAI for tour operators, showing sentiment, highlighted keywords and overall performance in one dashboard.

How do you handle payments and PCI DSS?

We use tokenised gateways such as Stripe and PayPal, so card data never touches your servers. Deposits, partial refunds and cancellation fees are built as rules in the booking engine.

Can guests book without downloading an app?

Yes. A progressive web app opens from a link or a QR code and works like an app in the browser. NXTGUEST guests book rides this way and pay with Stripe or PayPal.

How do you handle GDPR for guest data?

GDPR controls are written into scope during discovery, covering what guest data is stored, where it is hosted, who can see it and how long it is kept. Guest profiles get role-based access and audit logs from the first release.

How long does a travel booking platform take to build?

A first booking flow is the first release to reach staging, once integration access is in place. A full platform with apps, integrations and analytics ships on a schedule fixed in discovery, and we plan the launch outside your peak season.
