What manufacturing software development covers

The data and intelligence layer on top of your plant.

What is manufacturing software development?
Manufacturing software development is the engineering of systems that collect, analyze and act on plant data. It covers IoT and sensor integration, OEE monitoring, predictive maintenance, computer-vision quality inspection, plant dashboards and ERP integration with SAP or NetSuite, for discrete and process manufacturers running new and older lines.
Scope and fit

Where ScalaCode fits around your MES and ERP

We don't build full MES or MOM execution suites. If that is what you need to run the whole plant, we will say so on the first call and point you to a specialist.

  • Our strength is the data layer above the plant. That covers IoT, OEE, predictive maintenance, quality-inspection AI and the ERP integrations around them.
  • Clean data off older lines comes first. It is the hardest part of the job, so we solve it before any dashboard or model.
  • Commissioning on site is a limit. If you need an engineer on the line during commissioning, the timezone gap from India makes that hard. For the build itself, the 4 to 5 hours of daily overlap we keep is enough.

Manufacturing services

Manufacturing software we build

From a single line to a multi-plant rollout.

IoT and sensor integration

We connect machines, PLCs and sensors so data leaves the floor and lands somewhere you can act on it.

See cloud and DevOps

OEE monitoring

One dashboard shows live availability, performance and quality, replacing the spreadsheet someone updates at shift end.

Predictive maintenance

ML models read sensor patterns and flag a failure before it stops the line, then alert the right technician.

Visual quality inspection

We train computer-vision models on your own images. They catch defects faster and more consistently than manual inspection late in a shift.

ERP and systems integration

We sync floor data with SAP, NetSuite and the systems you already run, so production and orders stay in step.

Dashboards and reporting

Plant and line dashboards show each role only the metrics it uses.

Predictive maintenance for warehouse equipment at a global logistics provider

ScalaCode built a predictive maintenance system for the warehouses of a global logistics provider. IoT sensors track equipment health, a Python machine learning model predicts maintenance needs, and a Vue.js dashboard alerts staff before equipment fails.

Questions buyers ask

Manufacturing software development FAQs

We will answer any other question on the call.

How much does manufacturing software development cost?

Every build starts with a free discovery sprint. An MVP such as OEE monitoring on one line starts from $9,999, custom software from $9,999 and enterprise software from $24,999. Dedicated engineers start from $1,799 a month, full-time.

Can you connect older machines and PLCs?

Usually yes. We connect PLCs, sensors and existing controllers through edge gateways and protocols such as MQTT and OPC UA. Where a machine cannot talk directly, we add a hardware bridge. Older plant software around those machines can move to a modern stack through our legacy modernization work.

Can you integrate with SAP or our ERP?

Yes. Floor data connects with SAP, NetSuite and other ERP systems, so production, inventory and orders stay in step without manual re-entry.

How does predictive maintenance work?

We train models on your sensor and failure history to spot the patterns that come before a breakdown, then alert the right technician with enough lead time to act. It runs alongside your existing maintenance schedule, and our ML engineers can join your team to own the models. The same approach applies to vehicle fleets in automotive.

Can the software run on-premise on the plant network?

Yes. Data collection, storage and dashboards can run on servers inside the plant network, with only the data you approve sent to the cloud. Edge gateways buffer readings when the internet link drops and sync when it returns. Utilities with SCADA networks face the same constraint, covered under energy and utilities.

How long does a manufacturing software project take?

A one-line pilot runs first, on a schedule fixed in writing after discovery. A multi-plant rollout follows on your cadence once your team trusts the numbers. Plant-wide programmes often grow into a broader digital transformation of paper and spreadsheet processes.

Do you build MES or MOM systems?

We build the data and intelligence layer around them, including IoT and OEE monitoring, predictive maintenance, quality-inspection AI and ERP integration. If you need a full MES, we will tell you on the first call and point you to a specialist.

Can you do visual quality inspection?

Yes. Computer-vision models trained on your own images inspect parts on the line and flag or divert anything that fails.

Who owns the code and the data?

You do. IP assignment is in the contract, NDAs are standard, and we set access controls to protect your production and machine data.
