Migrating MEDITECH Materials Management software from Windows-based handheld to Android-based handheld

Business Requirements

Our client, the SHG Group, a well-regarded company based in Massachusetts that provides hospitals with Meditech products and services, reached out to us with a clear objective. They asked for the migration of their outdated Windows-based MEDITECH Materials Management software to a modern Android-based system. Besides, they wanted to integrate advanced Zebra handheld devices for top-notch barcode scanning capabilities, enhancing their software’s power and efficiency.

Business Requirements

Business Challenges

  • The SHG group realised that Windows-based hand-held software was restricting their expansion to other Hospitals that primary rely on Android-based ecosystem.

  • Utilising latest barcode scanning technology to both recieinv the supplies from vendor and then autofeeding to inventory units.

  • Building a Material Management handheld software coupled with barcode scanning would reduce manual labor and increase accuries in maintaining inventory status paving a better to automate the supply chain system.

Business Solutions

The ScalaCode mobile app development team worked side-by-side with the SHG Group in the migration process. We create an Android app for Zebra devices. This app made various aspects of Meditech software, like managing storerooms, counting inventory, and distributing supplies, much smoother through advanced barcode scanning. On Zebra handhelds, the Android app helped manage patient records efficiently by scanning things like Patient Account Numbers and barcode quantities. This integration gave our client a strong tool to automate tasks, improve accuracy, and boost their supply chain processes. The android app on the Zebra handheld utilised patient issues records by scanning the : (a) Patient Account Number (b) The UPN barcode on the packaging (c) Quantity issued and then uploading to Meditech using the handheld interface menu.
